Canticum Chamber Choir presents “The Sacred Veil” (Eric Whitacre)
The Sacred Veil, a work for choir, piano and cello, was born out of a collaboration between Eric Whitacre and poet/lyricist Charles Anthony Silvestri whose wife, Julie, died of ovarian cancer at the age of 36, leaving behind two young children. Texts from Silvestri, Julie herself, and Whitacre, together with the compelling music, tell a story of courtship, love, loss and the search for solace.
Canticum and conductor Emily Cox welcome renowned cellist Louise King, and pianist Cara Tran as we present this intimate work.

Every contribution will support Ovarian Cancer research at QIMR Berghofer.

We are pioneers in researching lifestyle factors that contribute to ovarian cancer risk and are dedicated to delivering better diagnosis and treatment of a disease that has become known as the silent killer.
With no clear symptoms and no screening test for ovarian cancer, we are tackling this devastating disease across multiple disciplines, from advanced genetic sequencing to the ongoing pursuit of environmental factors.
The Ovarian Cancer Prognosis and Lifestyle (OPAL) study is Australia's first study into lifestyle factors that may improve survival rates and quality of life for women with ovarian cancer.
