It was removed, and he attended regular checks. Five years later—out of the blue—he collapsed. Since then, melanoma has taken Dan and his family on a rollercoaster no family should have to ride.
Advanced and aggressive melanoma can move with breathtaking speed. Dan was rushed into surgery. A treatment plan was made, but before he could begin, he was back in theatre to remove new and rapidly growing brain tumours.
Dan was diagnosed with stage four BRAF-positive melanoma, which had metastasised to his stomach, lungs, and lymph nodes.

Dan’s had surgery, radiation, immunotherapy and drug combinations. He’s has had complications at every stage, but there have always been options.
Thanks to medical research, Dan is here today. But he’s now counting on the next breakthroughs.
In January this year, a scan showed ‘no evidence of active disease’. His treatment is working for the time being.
The clock is ticking. Without urgent support, the breakthroughs that save lives may never happen.
